THE ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ok so here's the deal I'm spending some timeright now to update my blog about a few things that I didn't get totell you all about. So scroll down to the first entry I published today in order to keep learning about my trip in order!
Ok so normally I do things by week but this entry had to be on its own, why? because i LOVE the zoo and melbourne zoo was no exception. I had so so so much fun this day walking around taking amazing pictures of some trulyamazing animals some of which I'd seen many times others of which I'd never seen before. It washeart warming to see kangaroos in australia, and there was even an echidna that rolled over and imitated kirby (my roommates dog). The wombats were appropriately fluffy and even though I was let down by the fact that no koalas were out when we walked by their exhibit (like seriously let down...) I still managed to find thezoo very fascinating. We sawno australian crocodiles but we saw an american alligator and a philippines crocodile (lol iiiiirony) and we saw the lone platypus in the platypusaryum (yes thatswhat they labeled it) swimming away like there was no tomorrow. We also managed to catch an orangutan who was attempting to get food for himself finda tool to use, use the tool and then reap the rewards, he was seriously clever. I was enticedto two particular exhibits because the residents within were howling(or meowing?) away like there was no tomorrow...it made for some fun adlibbing with Des who was laughing because I was being so silly. These exhibits were the lions and tigers (seperate exhibits). The tiger was roaring its head off andpacing back and forth, a superbly magnificent creature in my eyes and most certainly one of my favorites. The tiger would pace up and down by the water so seeing it face its reflection was like something out of a dream sequence, it was so pretty. The lions (four of them) had a huge enclosure to themselves and one or two of them seemed to be having a yell off, although in my opinion he was just fussy because he wanted to play and everyone else wanted to sleep. poor kitty...so yeah while I was really disappointed at not seeing my faaaaaaaaaaavorite little fluffy animal the koala i got to see some pretty cool things quite up close and I am so grateful for the experience.
I have a few favorite pictures that I really wantedto post here and explain what they are and why Ilike them. (hint: if you click on them and open the link in another window or tab you can see them the size that thepictures really are and the quality goes up a little, this is how I want these pictures to be seen so please take the time to click on them and see them enlarged)
this flower was all alone in this huge bush in the middle of the walkway but it was too beautiful not to take a picture of it. btw that lighting is all natural.
kitty sleeping. =)
I really don't like snakes but the one above has a really cool hue to it and an awesome blue eye and theone below isjust too gorgeous. the yellow snake is my second favorite picture of the day.
this is actually a philippine lizard and he was living it up in the heaters rays.
have you ever realized just how beautiful the color green is in nature?
the echidna pulling a kirby.
kangaroo that was five feet from us. =)
giraffes= <3. thebest part about this picture is that it wasn't planned, i snapped it in a rush and when i looked back through my pictures I knewI had found my favorite picture of the day.
this picture is taken without zoom, these monkeys were ona ledge that shared alevel bench on the oustide so that it waslike you were sitting next to each other. he had so much personality.
the clever orangutan. this was also an accidental shot because we were at the back of a massive crowd and i managed to get my camera to a good vantage point and snapped this one without looking first.
right next to the elephants enclosure I found a narrow strip of fence where i could stand three feet from this gorgeous giant.
the first noisemaker that we ran into thatday. reminds me of sher kahn from the junglebook.
the above and below pictures were taken at the same enclosure. the monkey in the top left corner of the bottom picture came over to see me and then started posing. the above picture is the result.
this little guy is a pygmy marmoset, he was in the second enclosure we walked by at the zoo and he was so sad but beautiful that it easily reminded me that while I may be enjoying myself at the zoo, I had to keep in mind that I got to go home at the end of the day whereas these animals have to stay in the same place for most of their lives. He's small but mighty.
so that was all for the zoo, my next blog will be about some other adventures!! promise! I hope you took the time to click on a few pics to get why I lovethem so much.
